Helsinki City Running Day postponed to 3rd of October and returns to the Olympic Stadium

The largest running event in Finland, Helsinki City Running Day, is now scheduled to take place on Saturday the 3rd of October 2020 at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium. Helsinki City Running Day is postponed from May to the beginning of October due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

–  When searching for the new date, we were following closely the predictions of how long the Covid-19 epidemic will last in Finland. The health and safety of our community being an utmost priority, we wanted to take our time to find the best possible date and venue for the Helsinki City Running Day. We are now pleased to confirm the new race date and announce that the legendary, freshly renewed Helsinki Olympic Stadium will be the event venue of Helsinki City Running Day already this autumn, says the Race director of Helsinki City Running Day, Harri Hänninen.

–  We are grateful for the City of Helsinki, the Olympic Stadium and other stakeholders for cooperating with us, so that we were able to find the new date regardless of challenges.
Hänninen is very pleased that the Helsinki City Running Day returns to the Olympic Stadium earlier than it was originally planned.

– We had already agreed that the event will return to the Olympic Stadium in May 2021. However, we are extremely excited to give our runners the news that they are able to experience the renewed Olympic Stadium already this year. This is very special as the legendary Helsinki City Marathon is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Hänninen says.

Helsinki City Running Day consists of six running events: the 40th Garmin Helsinki City Marathon, Helsinki City Run half marathon, ECCO Helsinki City 5, Helsinki City Marathon Relay, Helsinki City Double (half marathon + marathon) and children’s Minimarathon. – Stay safe and keep on running if it is possible and remember to keep your social distance. We hope to see you in October at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium, Hänninen says.

All registered runners will have their registration automatically entered into the new race date
