The route for the OP Uusimaa Helsinki City Run half marathon has now been published!
We already revealed earlier that the routes of Helsinki City Running Day will conquer Mannerheimintie! Therefore, the first kilometers of Finland’s largest half marathon route will also be renewed.
The start is in front of the Olympic Stadium on Mäntymäentie, as earlier. After the start, the half marathon route takes a turn to east, to the corner of Opera House on Helsinginkatu, from where it turns south onto Mannerheimintie, the main street of the entire country.
Running along Mannerheimintie, you will pass the capital’s most significant landmarks, such as the National Museum, the Parliament house and the Musiikkitalo concert hall, and you will get a magnificent view of the Oodi Central Library, Sanomatalo and the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art.
After the Parliament house, the half marathon route descends downe to Baana pedestrian lane. From here, the route takes you towards the Lauttasaari bridge, and a beautiful tour of the seaside landscapes of gulf of Seurasaarenselkä. The route offers a great experience in the capital of Finland in blooming spring. At the end you run through the Marathon Gate and cross the finish line at the Olympic Stadium!
Check out the route map here. The map shows e.g. the locations of the refreshment stations. There are five refreshment stations along the route, as well as at the finish line. The map also points out some of the cheering points along the route – more of them will updated on the map soon!
