Next year the event will be called helsinki city run

New name Helsinki City Run

Finland’s largest running event is getting a new name! In 2026, Helsinki City Running Day will be known simply as the Helsinki City Run.

The new name reflects the most popular distance and most recognized brand within the event—the Helsinki City Run. At the same time, the half marathon will adopt a new title as well: OP Uusimaa Helsinki City Half, clearly highlighting its distance.

The name change comes after a survey conducted among participants and partners. Their feedback played a key role in shaping the decision. The goal of the rebranding is to build a stronger, more unified identity and improve overall recognition of the event.

While the name is changing, the selection of race distances, the unforgettable atmosphere, and the iconic Helsinki Olympic Stadium as the event centre all remain unchanged!

Due to a significant increase in number of participation, the event will expand into a two-day format starting in 2026. On Friday evening, runners can enjoy the Helsinki City 5—a fast and fun 5 km street run—along with the Helsinki City Walk, a non-timed walking event. The traditional Minimarathon for children will also take place on Friday.

Looking ahead, the 2026 edition of the event will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 15–16.
